Kickstart your Litz Wire Project
Select a type of litz wire below to build your litz wire construction.
Our industry-leading search tool will help you identify litz constructions that are right for your project, then send them to an engineer at New England Wire so we can build the perfect litz wire design for your project. Start by selecting whether you need single film or heavy film litz wire.
Single and heavy film magnet wire is defined by the NEMA MW-1000 Global Standard for magnet wire wherein “single” and “heavy” refer to the thickness of the enamel coating over the core wire material. The core material is typically bare copper, however other conductor materials are available.
Single Film Litz Wire
Single film magnet wire is the industry standard for electrical winding applications, offering a thin enamel coating that maximizes copper density and enables a smaller diameter for compact designs.
Ideal for cost-sensitive projects, it provides reduced crazing, lower cost, and is often chosen when additional insulation layers will be applied. Perfect for motors, transformers, and coils where efficiency and space savings are critical.
Heavy Film Litz Wire
Heavy film magnet wire features double enamel insulation for enhanced dielectric strength and superior protection against electrical shorting. Its durable, robust coating resists pinholes and withstands greater mechanical stress, making it ideal for applications requiring long-term reliability under demanding conditions.
Commonly used in high-voltage motors, industrial equipment, and situations where mechanical compaction is necessary.
